5 Tips For Filmmaking
On this weeks episode:
Today we are talking about the 5 tips for filmmaking. These are just a few general tips that I've learned over the past couple of months through filmmaking.
I do intend to make more of these specific types of episodes, so expect those to come up here in the future.
1. Don't Rush
Don't push yourself to make unrealistic deadlines. If you push yourself to much to make a short deadline, you don't have the time you NEED to do pre-production, or production, and then post-production is rushed, so you can't do as well on effects.
Also, if you give yourself a short time, schedules cannot be flexible, which means that actors have to form their lives, around your schedule, which will make you look rude, or ignorant, and make people think, that all you care about, is your film.

2. Make Compromises
If you have a due date that your film has to be done by, don't wait for everything to be perfect. Sometimes, you even have to take scenes out of your film, to make a deadline. My best example of making compromises was Coffee Shop Horror Story. Scene A (below left) was shot late in the evening, while Scene B (below right) was shot about mid-day. But with simple color correcting techniques, and a lot of confidence, the change went unnoticed.

3. Plan Everything
Plan everything ahead of time before you are on set. You will save a lot of time on set, where time is the most expensive, by spending a little extra time in pre-production doing schedules, planning shots, and experimenting with things.
Also, not scheduling things might cause your actors not being available on a production day.
4. Experiment
Experiment with your films. If you don't try experimenting, you won't improve much. By trying new things, you have more to offer, which will also get you views. In every skit I film, I try something new.
For example, in Chunks (below left), I tried selective focus. In Priorities (below right), I was playing with blood, and simple gun shot effects.

5. Have Fun
If you aren't having fun, it's not for you.
