My 2016 Film Making Resolutions
Happy New Years!!!
Yeah yeah, I know, it's June, but hey, better late than never, right?
Anyway, the best way to get things done as a film maker is to set goals, and that, in my opinion, is the best way to stay productive. So here is a short list of goals that I want to accomplish this year, in 2016!
Weekly Videos
I want to make sure to get a video out at least once a week. So far, I'm doing pretty well, and hopefully I can continue to maintain this goal. With hard work and committment, I feel like this goal is 100% maintainable, and I believe if I stay committed enough, that eventually, more people will see my channel for some reason or another, and like the content on my channel.
To help me out with the weekly videos, just drop some ideas on what you would like to see here at our "Ideas" tab:
Dedicated Film Studio
My sister, Lauren, as seen in only one of my videos, and that is "Connor Rules Goes Skydiving," just moved out. That opens up a small room in my house, where hopefully, if everything goes well, I am able to use that room for a home studio. As of right now, I have been using my room as a studio, and sometimes it just isn't the most convenient, or efficient way of doing things, because I picture my room as a place to chill out and hang out, and I believe having a seperate studio area, where I go to work, will definitely boost my productivity.
With the new dedicated film studio, I am also looking at buying a new computer strictly for video editting. This purchase is based on a number of reasons.
- The computer I am using now is not very good with Adobe Premiere. Adobe requires at least 4 gb of RAM on the computer running Premiere Pro, and recommends 8gb of RAM. My computer that I am using now, only has 3 gb of RAM. How my computer runs Premiere Pro is a mystery to me.
- Also, the computer I am using now, is almost out of memory. I know I can buy an external hard drive, and I will be doing that with my dedicated editting computer, but I don't see how it is worth adding memory to my current computer.
- I am traveling in September, and may need a way to post videos when I am away, so a laptop would be a good choice for me.
More Equipment
I know wanting to get more equipment is frowned upon in the film making world, but better audio is something that I would love to get. I just want to get a Rode Videomic, just something basic to get good audio. Along with a dedicated audio recorder, which will probably be the Zoom H1, one of the most famous cheap audio recorders in the film industry.
Also, another, unneccesary thing that I would love to get my hands on, is the DJI Ronin-m. I did have the opportunity to use one of these a few months ago, and I absolutely loved it. I would love to be the proud owner of one, and get to use one when ever I need it. That is why I am not a big fan of renting equipment.
Release of "The Murderer [Remake]"
This goal I am a little skeptical on, but I want to release "The Murderer" this year. This short film is a little bit more of a professional short film that I wanna do this year, and it is going to cost me a fortune. Unfortunately for me, I do have a vacation planned in September, that I did mention before, that I am going to need a decent amount of money saved up for. Hopefully, with the new full-time job that I am working right now, I will be able to save up enough money for both the vacation I have planned, and "The Murderer," but we will just have to sit back and see.
